Headshot, Dr. Steve McGuire Dr. Steve McGuire is an assistant professor at the University of California Santa Cruz within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, where he runs the Human-Aware Robotic Exploration Lab conducting research on human-robot interaction on field robotic systems. He received a B.S. from Penn state in 2003 in Computer Engineering, and his M.S. (2015) and PhD (2019) from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Aerospace Engineering. He served as systems and comm co-lead for Team MARBLE.
Headshot Harel Biggie is a PhD student at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Autonomous Robotics and Perception Group where he researches next-best view localization strategies. He received his B.S. from Rochester in 2018 in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He served as Artifact Identification and comm co-lead for Team MARBLE.
Headshot, Dr. Jeffrey Edlund Dr. Jeffrey Edlund is a member of the Robotics Modeling and Simulation group at NASA JPL and was communications lead for Team CoSTAR. He received his Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems and B.S. in Physics from Caltech in 2019 and 2004 respectively.
Headshot, Lillian Clark Lillian Clark is a PhD Candidate at the University of Southern California in the Autonomous Networks Research Group, conducting research on communication-aware multi-robot exploration. She was heavily involved in the communications efforts of Team CoSTAR. She received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from USC in 2020 and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from MIT in 2018.
Headshot, Alex Pitt Alex Pitt is a senior software engineer with 8 years of professional experience, and a background in system integration, network programming, graphics, and computer vision. Alex joined CSIRO Data61’s Robotics and Autonomous Systems Group in 2019 after having previously worked at Microsoft and CSIRO Energy. For the SubT Challenge, Alex was responsible for the team’s inter-robot communication solution, whilst also developing components for global-navigation and overseeing software integration with team partners Emesent and Georgia Tech.
Ryan Darnley headshot Ryan Darnley is a staff engineer at Carnegie Mellon University and served as communications lead and project PI liason for Team Explorer. Ryan received his M.S. in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon in 2021 and two B.S. degrees from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2019. His research interests include development of LQR controllers over factor graphs to manage traffic in distributed mesh networks.
Prof Jan Faigl Prof. Jan Faigl is a professor of Computer Science at the Czech Technical University (CTU), Czechia, within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE), Department of Computer Science, where he founded the Computational Robotics Laboratory (http://comrob.fel.cvut.cz) within the Artificial Intelligence Center (http://aic.fel.cvut.cz). He received Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering, branch Technical Cybernetics, FEE, CTU in 2003, and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, branch Artificial Intelligence and Biocybernetics, FEE, CTU in 2010. He served as team co-lead for Team CTU-CRAS-NORLAB.
